Questions About Membership
Becoming a member of Chicago Humanities unlocks a range of exclusive benefits tailored to enhance your experience with us. Depending on the membership level you choose, you can enjoy discounts on tickets, complimentary tickets to programs, access to member-only events, presales, and much more.
Each membership regardless of member level lasts for one year from the purchase date. Your support helps us to connect people to the ideas that shape and define humanity. Our members are a vital part of our community. We rely on your conversation, engagement, and support to make our programs a success!
We offer several membership levels, each with its own set of benefits:
- Friends: Up to 20% discount on all tickets, access to at least 1 free member program per festival, members-only presales, and communications, along with the opportunity to provide feedback on events and programs via member surveys. Membership benefits last for one year from the date of purchase.
- Collaborators: Up to 20% discount on all tickets, two complimentary tickets per festival, access to at least 2 free member programs per festival, members-only presales and communications, and the opportunity to provide feedback. Membership benefits last for one year from the date of purchase.
- Advocates: Up to 20% discount on all tickets, four complimentary tickets per festival, invitation to a member-only event, access to at least 2 free member programs per festival, members-only presales and communications, and the opportunity to provide feedback. Membership benefits last for one year from the date of purchase.
- Laureate Circle Supporter: Up to 20% discount on all tickets, concierge services, six complimentary tickets per festival, invitations to intimate member-exclusive events, access to at least 2 free member programs per festival, members-only presales and communications, and the opportunity to provide feedback directly to CHF staff. Membership benefits last for one year from the date of purchase.
- Humanist Circle Supporter: Complimentary tickets to all programs, reserved premier seats, custom VIP badges, discounted book required programs, concierge services, invitations to exclusive Humanist circle events, guest tickets with book bundle discounts, end of year gift, personal communications from Humanities staff, and the opportunity to provide feedback directly to CHF staff. Membership benefits last for one year from the date of purchase.

Once you are logged into your account with the membership status activated, you will be able to select member-exclusive discounted ticket prices to all programs. Depending on your membership level, you may receive a special code to redeem complimentary tickets. Instructions for using these codes will be provided to you via email upon becoming a member. If you have not received it within 7 business days, please contact development@chicagohumanities.org for instructions.
As a member, you'll receive regular communications via email about upcoming events, presales, discounts, and member-exclusive programs. Make sure to keep an eye out for updates from us in your inbox.
Absolutely! We value your feedback and encourage all our members to share their thoughts with us. You'll have the opportunity to provide feedback through member surveys or directly to CHF staff, depending on your membership level.

Humanist Circle Membership FAQs
As a Humanist Circle member, you will get the following benefits:
- 2 complimentary tickets to ALL Chicago Humanities programs with Reserved premier seating
- 2 custom VIP red badges with e-scanning for all reservations
- Discounted Book Bundle programs
- Invitations to exclusive Humanist circle events, such as private dinners and presenter receptions
- Up to ten (10) guest tickets to use throughout the year, with discounted tickets for Book Bundle programs
- Annual thank you gift

The red badge is not only a visual identification of being a Humanist member but also ensures your swift entry into the programs! The unique barcode on the back of your red badges will store all your Chicago Humanities tickets once you have made a reservation. All Humanist members will receive their custom VIP red badges via mail once they join within 7-10 business days. When you arrive at the program, our Audience Services team will scan your badge for entry–which means no more digging in your email inbox for the program tickets or printing out multiple tickets for the programs you plan on attending!
Please note that red badge can only link to one email address per membership. If you'd like to change the preferred email address for your membership, please contact development@chicagohumanities.org or your development contact directly for assistance. We are happy to help!
Yes! This ensures that we are able to best accommodate all of our guests.
If you have any questions about ticket availability or require any assistance with reserving tickets, please contact your development contact directly for concierge services or any other assistance you may need. Contact information will be provided upon joining or upgrading your membership.
Please contact development@chicagohumanities.org if you no longer have your red badge and a member of our team will assist you with a replacement.
Ticketing & Membership Questions
When you join, you will receive a promo code via email. If you have not received it within 7 business days, or have trouble locating the email containing your promo code, please contact development@chicagohumanities.org for instructions.
Once you have your promo code ready, you may follow the below instructions to get your discounted tickets:
- Log in to your account with active membership status and head to our events calendar to choose your event.
- Select Member ticket type from the dropdown.
- Select your ticket quantity based on your membership level.
- Click the Add to Cart and proceed to checkout.
- Click Have a promotional code?
- Type the given promo code in the box provided.
- Click the checkout to proceed with your discounted tickets
At Chicago Humanities, we strive to eliminate barriers to participation related to aging and disabilities. You can request accessibility accommodations when reserving tickets online, or afterward by contacting our Box Office (312) 661-1239 | access@chicagohumanities.org. Requests with at least 48 hours’ notice are greatly appreciated!

There are several ways that you can find the tickets that you have reserved.
- Log into your account and go to your account’s profile, your ticket(s) will show under a purple table with the corresponding link to the attachment in a PDF file with your barcode(s) and book voucher(s) to be scanned in.
- Search “Order Confirmation – Your Chicago Humanities Tickets” in the email inbox that you log into your account with. There will be a button “View Tickets” that you may click into and they will direct you to the event tickets with barcode to be scanned in. The ticket(s) is also attached in the email in a PDF file, too.
- If you still can’t find your ticket, please contact the box office at tickets@chicagohumanities.org or call (312) 661-1239 for further assistance.
