Image you post a video to Youtube and discover that it has skyrocketed to the number one spot with millions of worldwide views. What doors would open up? Who would call? What does it mean today to be in a class with the number 1's like Evolution of Dance, Chocolate Rain and Lady Gaga. Record deals? Movie spots? Talk shows? What would you do with your new fame and what could you expect the experience to be like? When Yuri Lane posted his Harmonica + Beatbox video he probably did not expect to have instant fame but he became one of the few individuals who has gone through this unique adventure. Here Yuri does his entertaining, humorous and performance packed interpretation of all that is becoming an overnight internet sensation.
Yuri Lane is a performer based in Chicago. His one-man human beatbox musical, Soundtrack City, debuted in 2001, and he starred in a 2002 short film featuring his beatboxing skills called Compulsory Breathing. Lane's From Tel Aviv to Ramallah, a hip-hop play that tackles the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, has played at theaters nationwide as well as on college campuses, at Jewish-Muslim and Israeli-Arab peace events, and community centers. He continues to perform at area clubs and is working on a beatbox album.
