How do you transport millions of people to and from work efficiently and with ecological sensitivity? While working toward solutions in our own country, we look to Tokyo, where an extensive network of commuter trains is a triumph of logistics. University of Chicago anthropologist Michael Fisch has studied Tokyo's public transportation, examining its technological prowess as well as the experiences imparted to its riders. In his presentation, Fisch discusses Tokyo's remarkable commuter trains and their lessons for US public transport.
