"Maximum City: Bombay Lost and Found"
In "Maximum City: Bombay Lost and Found," journalist and nonfiction writer Suketu Mehta returned to his hometown after 21 years to explore that “city in extremis,” known now as Mumbai. Through intimate interviews and rambling journeys, Mehta detailed the lives of Hindus and Muslims, hit men and top cops, sex workers and cross-dressers, and earned himself a spot as a Pulitzer Prize finalist. Now at work on an epic tale of immigrants in contemporary New York, Mehta comes to Chicago to talk about migration, alienation, community, and what it means to be an urban human being.
