Joey Soloway: Transparent
Joey Soloway's Emmy award-winning Amazon series Transparent, a wholly original take on the complex interplay between gender identity, sexual politics, and familial dysfunction, has effected a trans trifecta of sorts: the show is a powerful and popular exploration of transgender life, a “transfirmative action” program for trans writers and performers in Hollywood, and has coincided with Soloway's own coming out as gender non-conforming. The Chicago-born comedian, writer, and director returns home to talk about the evolution of their work (including their latest series I Love Dick) and life.
