We've compiled some useful resources to help educators and learners of all ages make the most of our fall programs!
The visual culture of science and technology can enhance how we see and understand the world around us. And although it can be graphic (!), medical images can help us better understand our own bodies. These programs will take us through history and into the present, highlighting the connections between science, technology, and the graphic world.
Discussion Prompts
- Should scientists, engineers, and artists work together? How?
- How do visual aesthetics impact your interest in science?
- Has technology altered how we read?
- Do screens and visual technologies make your health and medicine seem more accessible?
Suggested Activities
Choose a famous building from around the world, like the Brunelleschi Dome in Florence, or the Sydney Opera House, and locate pictures of it from many angles. Choose a feature that stands out to you and design your own building based on that feature.
Early visual technology made motion pictures possible. The zoetrope is a simple technology that predates the moving picture film. This site offers simple DIY instructions.
