The Global Book
Bibliophiles take note: there’s a new way to obsess about books. That prized copy of "Moby-Dick" you have in your collection is more than a beloved object—it’s an agent of globalization. University of Wisconsin professor B. Venkat Mani calls this phenomenon bibliomigrancy. In this program, he discusses his fascinating research project on the emergence of world literature through the ever-wider circulation of texts, which spans the history of books and libraries from the Age of Enlightenment to the Amazon Kindle.
This program is presented in partnership with the Center for the Humanities and the Institute for Research in the Humanities at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
