Ruth Simmons is one of the most influential figures in American academia. An expert in French literature, she was the first black president of an Ivy League school and the first woman to lead Brown University. Simmons is joined in conversation by Michael Roth, president of Wesleyan University and author of the widely acclaimed book "Beyond the University: Why Liberal Education Matters."
