Anthony Molinaro: Arrangements & Improvisations of The Beatles
Pianist Anthony Molinaro's brilliant technique and musically imaginative mind have captivated audiences and critics alike since his victory at the 1997 Naumburg International Piano Competition in New York City. Molinaro, also a gifted composer, jazz artist, and Loyola University Chicago music professor, released "Here, There and Everywhere: Arrangements and Improvisations on the Music of the Beatles" this past October. The recording—and this performance—re-envisions the beloved songs of the Fab Four from Molinaro's innovative and virtuosic perspective. Joining Molinaro for this concert and conversation is the Chicago Tribune's jazz critic Howard Reich, who teases out the pianist's inspirations—and challenges—in bringing this project to fruition in all its beauty and complexity.
