The Super Natural: Powers and Superpowers in the Modern World

About the Event:

Human history is replete with both narrative and empirical evidence of dramatic healings, visitations, extraordinary human capacities, and other unexplained phenomena. Yet intellectual and scientific communities have consistently brushed aside the very existence of such events as at odds with modernity. Historian of religions Jeffrey J. Kripal returns to these universal human experiences not as superstitious detritus to leave behind or explain with science but as extraordinary signs of the very future of human knowledge. In particular, he will explore the anomalous, life-altering events experienced by scientists and medical professionals and probe the profound possibilities and understandings that might be discovered therein.
