About the Event:

Join us for a screening of the German silent horror film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920), featuring a live original score by Chicago-based musicians Macie Stewart, Lia Kohl, and Whitney Johnson. Built the same decade as the release of Dr. Caligari, the historic Music Box Theater is the perfect venue to experience the spine-chilling film in all its glory. You won’t want to miss Stewart, Kohl, and Johnson’s string trio, featuring violin, cello, viola, and voices, live alongside what Roger Ebert called “arguably one of the first true horror films.”

This program is generously underwritten by the Paul M. Angell Family Foundation.
