About the Event:

Pulitzer Prize-winning and #1 New York Times bestselling author Rick Atkinson joins us for a conversation about Fate of the Day, the second volume of his acclaimed Revolution trilogy. According to famed documentarian Ken Burns, with this volume, “the battles and struggles that created our country now have clarity and meaning." Timed to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the beginning of the Revolution, Atkinson dives into the lethal conflict between the Americans and the British, offering not only a deeply researched and spectacularly dramatic history, but also a new perspective on the demands that a democracy makes on its citizens.

This program is presented as part of the annual Karla Scherer Endowed Lecture Series for the University of Chicago.
