About the Event:
Acclaimed photographer Merrick Morton is best known for his intimate photography of ‘80s Los Angeles barrios and Chicano culture, as well as his still photography for iconic films like La Bamba, Fight Club, and The Big Lebowski. He joins us in conversation with curator, writer, and cultural historian Deanna Ledezma to explore his decades-long documentation of Los Angeles and the city’s inner communities. Through powerful black-and-white imagery, they will examine photography as a tool for storytelling, trust-building, and cultural memory, while considering the evolving visual history of Los Angeles and its communities across generations.
- Copies of Clique: West Coast Portraits from the Hood, 1980-1996, Blood In Blood Out, and La Bamba: A Visual History will be available for purchase on site.
