Jesselyn Silva: In the Ring
About the Event:

Listen to Yollocalli's backstage interview with Jesselyn Silva! Photos by Pat Nabong.
Take a moment, and picture a boxer, fresh from the ring. Chances are your first impression is of a grown athlete—likely male—and not a young girl. Enter thirteen-year-old Jesselyn Silva, a rising boxing phenom who’s here to upend all your expectations about the sport. CHF’s youngest ever presenter, Silva rose to national prominence in 2017 when The New York Times featured Girl Boxer, a short documentary on her Olympic goals. Since then, Silva has used her platform to advocate for underdogs in boxing and beyond. Following a screening of Girl Boxer, Silva will be joined by artist and boxer Cheryl Pope for a conversation on what it takes to fight for your dreams.
Educators can bring their group of young people to Jesselyn Silva: My Corner of the Ring for FREE, including reimbursement for travel! Register your youth group here!
