Ijeoma Oluo: Be A Revolution
About the Event:
One of the prominent voices on the topic of race, the work of New York Times bestselling writer Ijeoma Oluo [ee-JOH-mah oh-LOO-oh] has also appeared in The Guardian and The Washington Post, among others. Finding a welcome home within the humanities, Oluo was awarded the 2020 Harvard Humanist of the Year Award from the American Humanist Association. Showcasing how Americans can enact positive change in systemic structures, Oluo taps into the themes of her latest book, Be a Revolution: How Everyday People Are Fighting Oppression and Changing the World—and How You Can, Too. From a variety of lenses, like education, media, labor, health, and housing, Oluo highlights how people can take active steps to change the society around them. Chicago Humanities welcomes this powerful writer who takes our conversations on race into a place of loving action.
