Humanist Circle Salon
About the Event:
The humanities thrive on a storied tradition of conversational gatherings discussing the most pressing issues of the day. This year, CHF reimagines these meetings—known as salons—for the pandemic and digital era. From your parlor to ours, join hosts Marilynn Thoma Artistic Director Alison Cuddy and University of Chicago Law Professor Geoffrey Stone for a Humanist Circle exclusive event delving into CHF’s recent Deep Dive series on the many fascinating facets of free speech. We’ll expand upon programmatic topics like national security, hate speech, democracy, and social media; and explore how the humanities, and our city, engage with free speech.
