Drag History with Frank DeCaro

About the Event:

Join comedian Frank DeCaro for a drag history reading and performance by Chicago Drag Legends Chilli Pepper and Lucy Stoole! Become a Shortlist Member and join the party!

As part of our 30th Anniversary celebration, CHF is revisiting and re-envisioning some of the themes, presenters and ideas from previous Festivals. In 1998 we presented He/She, a festival that explored the ways in which male and female gender roles impact not just our sex but our fashion choices, relationships, and the world as we knew it. In 2019 we would like to break out of a binary view of gender, in order to acknowledge and celebrate ideas and people beyond the binary.

Through the Revision Series, He/She/They will urge us to consider what it’s like to live, think, create, and exist in non-binary ways. This Spring Festival, comedian Frank DeCaro will illustrate the powerful history of drag for a special Shortlist Exclusive event. DeCaro will be joined by Chicago Drag Legends Chilli Pepper and Lucy Stoole, along with newcomer Angelica Grace, for an evening of conversation and drag performances.

Cash bar available at The Den. Light refreshments provided by the Chicago Humanities Festival's Shortlist Committee.

This program is presented in partnership with About Face Theatre.
