David E. Sanger: War in the Cyber Age

About the Event:

States entering conflict today rely less on traditional warfare methods and more on short-of-war operations conducted via keyboards and code. This shift is deeply familiar to David E. Sanger, New York Times National Security Correspondent and three-time Pulitzer winner. For decades, Sanger has reported from the frontlines of cyber conflict, including most recently Russian interference in the 2016 U. S. presidential election and America’s sabotage of the Russian electrical grid. Sanger, author of The Perfect Weapon: War, Sabotage, and Fear in the Cyber Age, will join award-winning journalist Christopher Bury to discuss how the rise of cyber conflict has changed geopolitics and, on the eve of the 2020 election, survey some of the most pressing hot spots in foreign policy, including Iran, North Korea, Russia, and the central battlefield for cyber conflict: the United States.
