Chicago Neighborhood Check-In: Youth Activism
About the Event:
Much of the recent on-the-ground organizing in Chicago is being led by youth activists, from protests against systemic racism and police brutality to efforts to supply food and other aid to communities in distress. Many of these organizers and community driven groups have been working for years to improve education, housing, criminal justice and more in our city. As part of CHF’s ongoing series, Chicago Neighborhood Check-Ins, Chicago rapper and producer Matt Muse moderates a panel of young activists, artists and community leaders discussing the concrete groundwork and strategies they’re implementing to make Chicago and the world a better place.
This program is presented in partnership with Kennedy-King College, the City of Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events and the City’s My Chi My Future initiative.
******
Chicago Neighborhood Check-Ins is an ongoing series planned and presented in partnership with local institutions and organizations, with a particular focus on the South Side. Each conversation features a range of community leaders — artists and activists, students and educators, journalists and business owners — who share their view from the ground in the time of COVID-19 and social uprising. Each program comes with a neighborhood resource guide, prepared in collaboration with our neighborhood partners, featuring organizations to support, businesses to patronize, people to follow on social media, and more.
This program is presented in partnership with Kennedy-King College, the City of Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events and the City’s My Chi My Future initiative.
