About the Event:

Experience the rich history and cultural legacy of Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood through the eyes of local historian Dilla Thomas. Beginning at Illinois Tech’s storied campus, this guided tour takes you through landmark sites that helped shape not only the city — but the nation.

Explore the birthplace of Black History Month, the historic Eighth Infantry Armory, and the Supreme Liberty Life Insurance Building. See the site where the first open-heart surgery was performed, visit the former home of activist Ida B. Wells-Barnett, and take in the powerful presence of Pilgrim Baptist Church — widely recognized as the birthplace of gospel music.

Join us for this unforgettable journey through Bronzeville, and witness how this extraordinary South Side neighborhood helped change the world.

This event is presented in partnership with Illinois Tech.
