About the Event:

National Humanities Medal winner and author of The Joy Luck Club, Amy Tan reflects on the wonder of birds. In 2016, Tan was overwhelmed by our increasingly divisive culture. For peace of mind, she turned to nature and the world of bird life outside her own window. Enjoy the perfect Mother's Day outing with Tan as she shares the beauty of the natural world in her latest book, The Backyard Bird Chronicles. The famed author sits down with Greta Johsen of WBEZ and invites us to savor quiet moments during a volatile time and connect to nature in a new meaningful way.

  • Chicago Humanities is pleased to partner with Chicago’s Seminary Co-op Bookstores, the country’s first not-for-profit bookstore.
  • Pre-order The Backyard Bird Chronicles through the Chicago Humanities Box Office and save 20% while supporting local, independent bookselling.
  • Add books to your cart when adding tickets. Your receipt will contain a book voucher, which you show to the bookseller on-site to pick up your book(s).
