Children's Humanities Festival

An incredible collection of writers, illustrators, storytellers, musicians, and performers came to Chicago as part of the Children's Humanities Festival from October 26 through November 3, 2002. The theme was Brains & Beauty—a great theme for a children's festival, bringing to mind the scarecrow on a quest for a brain and the ugly duckling that grows up to be a beautiful swan. Twenty programs spanned two weekends, and encompassed a broad variety of disciplines, including film animation, music, theater, storytelling, art and illustration, workshops, and much more.
