Alice Dreger, Ph.D., is a Guggenheim Fellow and Professor of Clinical Medical Humanities and Bioethics at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. She works as an historian, a patient advocate, a writer, and a public educator. Dr. Dreger has published two books with Harvard University Press. Her essays have also been published in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, and the Chicago Tribune. Her essay, "Lavish Dwarf Entertainment," was chosen for Norton's 2009 "Best Creative Non-Fiction." Dr. Dreger has appeared on dozens of broadcast programs including "Good Morning America" and the Oprah Winfrey Show.
