Author Lois Lowry’s beloved children’s books include the Newbery Medalists Number the Stars (1989) and The Giver (1993). She has also written A Summer to Die (1977), Find a Stranger, Say Goodbye (1978), the semi-autobiographical Autumn Street (1980), The One Hundredth Thing about Caroline (1983), the Anastasia Krupnik series (1979-1995), the photographic memoir Looking Back (1998), Silent Boy (2003), Gossamer (2006), The Willoughbys (2008), and Gooney Bird Is So Absurd (2009), among many other classics. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Maine in 1972 and currently lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
