$5-28 in advance. Payment may be made by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or check. A $6 processing fee per transaction will be added to all orders (including teacher and student orders).
At the door
A $5 per ticket surcharge applies to all purchases at the door. Ticket sales at the door are cash only and subject to availability.
Free and reduced-price tickets are available for students and teachers to many programs (with valid ID). When ordering online or by phone, please be prepared to provide details about where you attend school or teach, so you can receive the discount. See individual program listings for teacher and student pricing. Student and teacher pricing is always the lower of the two listed prices; for all $8 programs, students and teachers attend free. The $5 per ticket surcharge for purchases at the door does not apply to teacher and student tickets.
Free tickets to many programs are available to volunteers helping with the festival. Volunteer ticket orders must be made over the phone at least 48 hours prior to the event.
Educational groups may be entitled to free or reduced-price tickets. Educational groups may contact the Group Tickets line at 312-661-1028 ext. 735 to make arrangements.
A handling fee of $6 is applied to all ticket orders (per order, not per ticket). This fee is used to offset the costs of ticket stock, postage, and the seasonal box office staff. We appreciate your understanding that this fee is necessary for our non-profit organization to support the high volume of orders we receive every fall.
All ticket sales are final. Tickets are not exchangeable and are nonrefundable, except in the event of a program's cancellation. If you are unable to attend a program for which you have purchased a ticket, please call the box office at 312-494-9509 for information on donating tickets.
Ticket holders and Red Badge members are only guaranteed admission 10 minutes prior to the programs start time. Unclaimed seats may be reassigned.
CHF limits its advance reservations and ticket sales to the capacities of its venues. Please note: advance ticket sales, both online and by phone, may shut down 2-3 days prior to each event. Seats may be available at sold-out programs. If available, tickets will be sold at the door, first-come, first-served, 10 minutes prior to the start of each program.
Programs, dates, venues, presenters, and artists are subject to change without notice, though we make best efforts to inform patrons of changes to programming. Patrons are encouraged to join our email list to stay informed about program updates. For up-to-date program information, please visit the Tickets page.
Each year, the Chicago Humanities Festival needs hundreds of enthusiastic volunteers to greet and usher patrons, manage crowds, and sell tickets. In addition to an invaluable behind-the-scenes Festival experience, all volunteers receive free Festival tickets, based on shifts worked during the Festival.
To volunteer, visit the Volunteers page, send an email to email@example.com, or call 312-661-1028 ext. 715.
Each year the Chicago Humanities Festival carefully selects partners that provide flexible venues for our diverse programming. CHF strives to ensure that each facility is accessible to all our patrons, and most of our venues offer wheelchair-accessible seating and restrooms. Each venue also offers varying levels of additional accessibility. To inquire about a specific venue’s accessibility or to make a specific accessibility request, including hearing devices, please call our box office manager at 312-661-1028 ext. 741 at least one week in advance of the program date.
