Welcome to www.chicagohumanities.org (the “Website”) operated by the Chicago Humanities Festival, a non-profit arts organization located at 500 North Dearborn, Suite 825, Chicago, IL 60654 (“CHF”, “we”, “our”, or “us”). At CHF we respect your right to privacy and as such have provided our guidelines for how we use your personally identifiable information (PII) below.
Our web site has been built as a tool to help you plan and enjoy your Chicago Humanities Festival experience. CHF does not require you to enter any PII to browse through our website, but you will be prompted to share certain personally identifiable information to perform certain activities (i.e. subscribe to our newsletters, create a Festival Itinerary, or purchase Festival tickets).
CHF will use your PII to process requests entered by you, the patron. To create a Festival Account (for the purpose of creating an Itinerary or purchasing tickets) you are required to enter your name, a valid email address and your zip code. This is all the information that is needed to perform most of the activities offered on the CHF website. Additionally you may need to include a mailing address if we are going to mail you Festival materials. The patron may be required to enter credit card information to reserve or purchase Festival tickets. If you order tickets to any CHF event, we will process your order within 1 business day and your credit card information is not kept on file. You can change your personal information at any time by logging into “My Account.”
If you decide to create an “Itinerary” and share it with family or friends, please note that CHF will not collect any personal information from your contacts unless they grant us permission by creating an account and joining our web site.
CHF may release your PII to third parties if we believe such release is necessary to comply with the law, to protect our rights or property, or if we reasonably believe that a danger to any person requires us to release your PII to law enforcement authorities.
CHF may hire other companies to perform certain business-related functions. Examples include mailing information, maintaining databases and processing payments. When we employ another company to perform a function of this nature, we endeavor to provide them only with the information that they need to perform their specific function and we instruct them to limit their use of the PII accordingly.
CHF may also share your PII with third parties for their marketing purposes. If you do not want us to share your PII with any third party for their direct marketing purposes, please either (1) do not submit PII to CHF through the web site or (2) indicate your desire for us not to share your PII with third parties for their direct marketing purposes by submitting such a request in writing (an “Opt-Out Request”) to us at: Chicago Humanities Festival, 500 North Dearborn, Suite 825, Chicago, IL 60654 Attn: Legal or by email, with “OPT-OUT” in the subject line, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please be conscious that it may take some time to process your “Opt-Out” request. CHF will work to process your request in a prompt manner, but we may continue to use your PII as stated above temporarily. Do not provide your PII to CHF if you are concerned about sharing with third parties.
The CHF website is intended for Festival patrons 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect PII from anyone under eighteen (18) years of age.
From time to time, we may use customer information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our privacy notice. If our information practices change at some time in the future, we will post the policy changes to our Web site to notify you of these changes and provide you with the ability to opt out of these new uses. If you are concerned about how your information is used, you should check back at our Web site periodically. Visitors may prevent their information from being used for purposes other than those for which it was originally collected by emailing us at the above address.
